The name Tourelle is derived from the chalk monoliths shaped like towers that can still be sighted in the sector. They were carved by the erosion of the cliffs. The fishery industry is an important activity for the inhabitants of Tourelle. Snow crab and Greenland halibut make up the two main species landed by about twenty vessels operating from the harbour. This place is situated seven kilometres East of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts on the northern side of Gaspe.
